The Time Has Come for Some Serious Weight Loss | Part II

Earlier this year I posted how I needed to lose some drastic weight.  I wasn’t happy with my appearance and my junk eating was reaching a record high. To add insult to injury, my own doctor noticed my triglycerides were elevated and suggested I lose 10lbs by exercising by my next visit.  A coworker suggested I try out a program, Gastric Confusion but I shrugged it off.

I took what my doctor said to heart and began a steady regime of running for 30 minutes every other day.  It wasn’t easy.  With a daily dose of shin splits and bruised plantars, I slowly had to learn how to run again.   After three weeks of sticking to my running convictions, I slowly began noticing less and less pain.  It wasn’t long before I was I putting in 3+ miles in 30 minutes.  At the peak of this running experiment, I was adjusting the treadmill to stop at exactly 440 calories, despite the distance.  This adjustment allowed myself time to jog, run, or full on sprinting for as long as I wanted.

Three months have passed and it’s time to revisit my doctor.  I was feeling full of energy and better than ever, however, when my blood work came in my triglycerides had skyrocketed up.  In a flash my three months of running and weight lifting was for nothing.  In three months I had blasted my legs, shins, calves, and feet for nothing.  I was in utter shock, and that wasn’t the half of it.  When my doctor told me I had to go on TriCor tablets for the rest of my life to lower my triglycerides, I was floored.

I immediately entered research mode and scoured the interwebs for TriCor.  Suffice to say it wasn’t a drug I was looking forward to.  I spoke with my doctor again about a more natural way for lowering my triglycerides; his other suggestion was a strict diet reminiscent of a diabetic diet.  This entails strictly controlling the sugar intake and light exercise.

So where does this leave me?  I asked myself that question and went back to my first post when a coworker suggested Gastric Confusion.  I looked into what this program had to offer and its benefits.  Basically the program works as such, week one is nothing but fruits with the intention of cleansing and detoxing the body; week two is just vegetables no fruits, and finally week three is a combination of weeks one and two with lean white meats.  Saltines and oatmeal and thrown into the mix to not deprave the body of carbs and risk a major meltdown.

In the end this is the route I’ve chose.  To learn more about Gastric Confusion head to http://gastricconfusion.blogspot.com and stay tuned for updates as I detail my progress.
