If only the Captain America movie was this violent…

The Avengers | Extended Super Bowl TV Spot.  Just watch it.  Shying your eyes from it does nothing.

Please people, don’t do this at home…

This is about as close to a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off sequel as we’re gonna get.  Still funny, even if the jokes are rehashed from the movie.

Ok so I know 3D, blah blah blah. But this is Star Wars.  You know. Star Wars.  The movies you grew up with before Lord of the Rings.  The movies that made summer block busters what they are today.  So what if George Lucas tinkered with our memories being home sick in bed watching Star Wars, so what if George Lucas is banking on the prequels and making all sorts of new shows about a moment in Star Wars lore where us older folk don’t really care about.  Regardless, it’s Star Wars! And now’s another chance to watch something classic, I know the Phantom Menace is far from classic, however, it’s in the theaters and it’s in 3D.  It’s going to be an enjoyable ride so let’s just take it for what it’s worth, an adventure, an exit from reality for 2 hours being immersed in a universe we know all too well.  Let the hate go people.  Enjoy the movie.

So you want to know what it takes to shoot a movie in 3D?  You think 3D is simply a phase?  I’m sorry, but it’s here, it’s now, and it’s gonna stay.  Studios are dropping millions of dollars in the development of newer 3D cameras and here in this webisode of The Hobbit, Peter Jackson takes into the background and into the methodology of shooting The Hobbit in 3D.  If anyone knows anything about video format, I can just say these movies are being shot in 5K resolution at 48 frames per second in 3D.  Our new fancy 1080p machines are about 1K resolution, so there you have it.  Enjoy the episode and have a pint while you watch.

This voice behind the Harry Potter movie trailers! Revealed!

Lion King in 3D. Neato!

Walt Disney Pictures announced that The Lion King will return to theaters in 3D on September 16 before hitting Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on October 4.

Sounds awesome to me.

The Fapping Menace

In honor of Star Wars Day which I missed yesterday.

The Trilogy to End All Trilogies

1. The Original Star Wars Trilogy
I don’t really need to say anymore here. This is the end all be all of all movie trilogies, there’s no excuses that need to be made, and there’s no logic behind why it shouldn’t. It just is.

2. The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Just in case your little minds can’t fathom why these movies are also ranked 2 on my list, is because George Lucas created a masterpiece from the depths of his human brain. There were no source materials, there was no “based on”, it just was and is.

3. The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Soundtrack, all three films had the best scoring you’re ever gonna hear in any trilogy set out there. I can instant hum the theme to Leia, Yoda, the Imperial March, and not to mention the opening score and you’re instantly gonna know it’s Star Wars.

4. The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Dude, I’m not gonna cite special effects because even classics like the original “The Day the Earth Stood Still” had crappy effects, however, I will cite characters and make up; done in the day where there were no CG creatures. Believable characters puppeteered by man: C3PO, R2D2, Yoda, and Jabba the fuckin Hutt!

5. The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Darth Vader.

6. The Indiana Jones Trilogy
I’m placing this above Lord of the Rings because you can always watch Indiana Jones movies from beginning to end. Each movie are independent from the previous (their not even in chronological order) and you always have a great time watching them. There are hero deaths, but they are full of treasure, iconic moments, over the top stunts and punching sound effects you’re ever gonna need in a movie trilogy.

7. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Yes Peter Jackson is a genius as a director, yes Peter Jackson deserved the Oscar for his direction and vision, yes the score was great (but can you hum it right now? Can you!) Yes, the three movies were long and very effective, the effects were great, the costumes were top notch, and Gollum was spot on, but you can’t tell me you could sit in one day and watch all the Special Edition Trilogy in one sitting, and want to watch it again the next day, wait, lets even say the next week all over again. You can’t.

8. The Spiderman Trilogy
Fun to watch each and every time, except bits of the third film where Peter Parker goes emo.

9. The Jurassic Park Trilogy
Another fun trilogy to watch, dinosaurs and humans in one screen? Done three times?! Sweet.

10. (TIED) The Back to the Future Trilogy & The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Back to the Future is great trilpgy with great stories in each film, special effects, the flux capacitor, and of course Marty McFly. The Original Star Wars Trilogy is here also because I told you it is the end all be all of all trilogies.

Others trilogies in the running, but not top ten: the Matrix Trilogy (the third movie fuckin’ sucked donkey balls), the Bourne Trilogy (great to watch once in a while), the Mad Max Trilogy, the Blade Trilogy (let’s face it, the second movie was the best, I don’t even want to watch the other two), and the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy (although the third one took a back seat compared to the rest).
